Iam Phabiel is a cheerful, active 9-year-old boy who loves to play. Currently in the fifth grade, he enjoys playing soccer and using his phone—activities typical of his age that reflect his need for recreation, social interaction, and safe environments in which to grow. He lives with his grandparents and cousins, who make up his immediate support system. Emotionally, one of the most significant events in his life has been his separation from his mother, which has created a strong need for family closeness. Despite these circumstances, Iam maintains a cheerful attitude and dreams of becoming a university professor, demonstrating an interest in learning, teaching, and building a professional future. With support regarding education, transportation, school uniforms, emotional guidance, and access to sports activities, he will be able to strengthen his stability, self-esteem, and overall development.

Poverty in Honduras

Children from low-income backgrounds in Honduras face significant obstacles that can limit their opportunities, including risky environments, interrupted education, health issues, and limited prospects for decent employment.

That is why our approach focuses on helping children stay in school, build confidence, and thrive in safe, supportive environments while developing the skills they need for the future. Through educational support, health and nutrition resources, and other programs led by expert local staff, children develop self-confidence, resilience, and the tools to become healthy adults capable of shaping their own futures.
